Vessel Chartering in Guyana, Suriname, the Caribbean and Latin America
GCITI charters its own platform supply vessels and tanker tonnage on demise, voyage and time terms. Charterers, brokers and project operators take a hull for a single cargo, a fixed period, or under full operating control, working Guyana's rivers and coast, Suriname, the Caribbean and Latin America.
One vessel, three ways to take her
The difference between the three is not price, it is who carries what. Read down the column that matches how you want to operate.
| Demise | Voyage | Time | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who crews the vessel | You | GCITI | GCITI |
| Who directs her commercially | You | GCITI, to your cargo | You |
| Who maintains her | You | GCITI | GCITI |
| Who carries the operating risk | You | GCITI | Shared |
| What you pay for | The vessel, bare | The voyage | The period |
| Best when | You have your own marine operation | You have one cargo to move | You need a hull on call |
What we carry, and what governs it
- Demise charterYou take the vessel and operate it. Crewing, and operating responsibility, move to you.
- Voyage charterOne cargo, one route. We crew and operate; you pay for the voyage.
- Time charterThe vessel for a period. We crew and maintain; you direct her commercially.
What sets the limits
- Availability is set by where the hull is and what she is committed to. Ask early for a named vessel.
- Demise charter carries operating and crewing responsibility, and charterers are qualified before it is agreed.
- Operating area, draft and cargo type all narrow which hull can take the fixture.

Five hulls, one operator
GCITI charters from a fleet it owns and crews itself, working the same waters every day. A charterer deals with the operator, not a broker between them and the vessel — which is why availability questions get answered the same day.

Questions buyers ask
What is the difference between demise, voyage and time charter?
On a demise charter you take the bare vessel and operate and crew her yourself. On a voyage charter we crew and operate her to carry one cargo on one route. On a time charter you have her for a period, directing her commercially while we crew and maintain her.
Which one do I need?
One cargo to move: voyage. A hull on call for a project or a season: time. Your own marine operation and you want the asset: demise.
Which vessels are available for charter?
The published fleet — Candy Carrier, Candy Cruiser, Candy Coaster, Candy Caribe and Candy Conqueror. Particulars for each are on the fleet pages.
How do I check availability?
Send the dates, the area and the cargo or operating need. Availability depends on where the hull is and what she is already committed to.
What determines the rate?
The vessel, the charter basis, the duration or the voyage, the operating area, and what the cargo needs. Rates are quoted per fixture.
Can I charter for work outside Guyana?
Yes. The fleet works Guyana, Suriname, the Caribbean and Latin America.
What documentation do you provide?
Vessel particulars, class and flag documentation, insurance details, and a Q88 where one is held for the vessel.
Do you broker other owners' vessels?
No. GCITI charters vessels it owns and operates.
